Bestiary | Listings

This page of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim guide contains a list of all the enemies and monsters that you will come across in the game. Our bestiary provides information about the types of attacks each enemy uses, where they are commonly found, and what their weaknesses are.

Important! The list below does not include unique enemies or creatures that only appear once in the game, such as bosses. It also does not include wild animals that are not hostile towards the main character, such as deer, foxes, and rabbits. Keep in mind that the experience level of the creatures you encounter often increases as your character advances to higher levels. Exploring the same location at level 5 and level 30 will not necessarily result in easier fights the second time around, as your enemies will be equally challenging.

ATRONACHS

These powerful magical beings are often summoned by enemy mages and come in three different forms: fire atronachs, frost atronachs, and shock atronachs. Keep in mind that atronachs are partially immune to the element they represent (e.g. fire atronachs are partially immune to fire damage). The easiest way to defeat an atronach is to first kill the mage who summoned it.

BANDITS

Common bandits can represent any character class, but warriors and archers are the most common. Bandit mages are rare, but pose a serious threat if encountered. Some bandit groups have leaders who are tougher to defeat.

BEARS

Bears are formidable opponents and should not be engaged without proper preparation, as they can deal significant damage. Avoid their powerful melee attacks and move around frequently, especially since they are slower than wolves and sabretooth cats. Polar bears can be found in mountainous areas of Skyrim and are partially immune to frost damage.

В

CHAURUS

Chaurus are found in the same locations as falmers, such as ruins, dungeons, and caves. It is important to focus on one chaurus at a time, as they are resistant to damage and cannot be defeated quickly. Be sure to check your health after each battle, as chaurus can poison their victims.

DRAGONS

You will encounter many dragons while completing the main quests and while travelling the world. It is worth noting that fire-breathing dragons have reduced resistance to frost damage and frost-breathing dragons have reduced resistance to fire damage. Be cautious when facing blood dragons, as they are stronger than other types of dragons.

В

DRAUGRS

Draugrs are a common type of enemy in the game that can be found in almost every crypt and dungeon. They come in different types, with elite draugrs being a serious challenge, especially if they can cast spells. It’s important to note that all draugrs are partially immune to frost damage and completely immune to poisons.

Dremora are not encountered frequently, but they are a tough opponent, especially if they can cast spells. It’s best to avoid their attacks and focus on defeating them one by one.

Dwarven Centurions are only found in dwarven ruins and pose a serious threat. It’s recommended to keep a safe distance from them and use their size to your advantage. They are fully immune to frost damage and partially immune to magic.

Dwarven Spheres are also found in dwarven ruins and deal a lot of damage in melee combat. It’s crucial to maintain a safe distance from them and attack them one by one. They are fully immune to frost damage and partially immune to magic.

В

Dwarven Spiders are primarily encountered in dwarven ruins and try to inflict shock damage. It’s recommended to attack one spider at a time and they are fully immune to frost damage and partially immune to magic.

В

Falmers live underground and are usually encountered in dungeons and dwarven ruins. They can inflict serious injuries and are quite strong, so focus on eliminating falmer mages first to prevent them from casting spells.

В

Forsworn are found in many locations in the game and weaker types are not a serious threat. However, their shamans are dangerous and should be eliminated quickly.

Ghosts and spirits are encountered throughout the game and can vary in strength.

Ghosts behave similarly to their living counterparts and can be easy or difficult to defeat depending on their type. Melee and ranged weapons can harm them, so magic isn’t necessary.

В

Giants are powerful and difficult to keep at a distance. Slowing them down or blocking their attacks is important. Most giants won’t attack unless provoked.

В

Horkers are slow and not difficult to defeat, typically found in the northern part of Skyrim.

В

Ice wraiths can be injured with melee or ranged weapons, as they are immune to frost damage but have reduced resistance to fire damage.

В

Eliminating Imperial soldiers may be necessary if you side with the Stormcloaks rebellion, but beware of heavily armed and well-equipped groups.

В

Conjurors can be quickly killed to eliminate their summoned creatures.

В

В

Necromancers can also be quickly killed to eliminate the dead they’ve resurrected.

В

Mammoths are powerful and slow, best attacked from a distance or defended against their melee attacks. They typically won’t attack unless provoked.

В

Mud crabs are not a significant threat.

Crabs in Skyrim may not be the strongest creatures, but they can still catch you off guard by hiding near the water.

В

OFFENSIVE MAGES

Offensive mages in Skyrim come from various races and can appear alone or with other enemies. It’s important to analyze each group to defend against the types of spells they cast, such as fire damage spells.

В

RESURRECTED UNDEAD

The undead in Skyrim can be anyone who’s been brought back to life by a necromancer. It’s best to focus on attacking the necromancer to get rid of all the undead in the area.

SABRETOOTH CATS

Sabretooth cats are dangerous enemies in Skyrim, especially the snow sabre cats which are partially immune to frost damage. It’s important to be cautious while fighting them to avoid the main character’s sudden death.

В

SKEEVERS

Skeevers are like big rats in Skyrim and are not a serious threat to the main character.

SKELETONS

Skeletons can be found in crypts, dungeons, and ruins in Skyrim, usually in the same locations as draugrs. They can be warriors or archers, but they are generally not difficult to eliminate.

SPIDERS

Smaller spiders in Skyrim are easy to kill, but larger ones can cause serious damage and poison their victims. It’s important to check the main character’s health after each battle.

SPRIGGANS

Spriggans are a rare group of enemies in Skyrim found mostly in groves. They are weak against fire attacks, but spriggan matrons, acting as leaders of the groups of spriggans, can be stronger and more challenging to defeat.

STORMCLOAKS

Members of the Stormcloaks rebellion in Skyrim can be heavily armed and well equipped. If the main character has joined the Imperial Legion, they will need to eliminate many of the Stormcloaks, but should avoid larger groups to prevent being surrounded and killed.

В

THALMOR

The Thalmor are not a common enemy in Skyrim and are typically encountered when exploring their embassy during the main quest or on other occasions. They are skilled warriors and archers, but can also include mages who pose a serious threat. Trolls are powerful opponents and should not be provoked without preparation. They can only attack in close combat and can be defeated from a distance. Trolls can regenerate their health, making it important to keep attacking them. Vampires are often aggressive and inhabit caves, and are partially immune to frost attacks. Wisps are not a serious threat on their own, but their accompanying wispmothers can be difficult to defeat. Hagravens are powerful mages and should be treated as such. Wolves are less powerful but attack in packs, requiring a strategic approach to defeat them. Snow wolves are partially immune to frost damage and are found in mountainous areas of Skyrim.
