Basic information

The story in Diablo 2 Resurrected is divided into five acts. Each act takes place in a different area of the world that isn’t connected to the areas from other acts (although you can move between them). Each act offers up to six quests. You don’t need to finish all quests to unlock the next act. The quests usually require you to defeat a boss or to find a certain quest item. In Diablo 2 Resurrected, you don’t need to follow the basic structure of accepting a quest, finishing it, and turning it in to get a reward. Often, you won’t need to talk to anyone to complete a quest, before starting it, or after finishing it. It’s even possible to eliminate a story-related mini-boss by accident by stumbling upon it during exploration.

FAQ

What are the story quests in Diablo 2 Resurrected?

Diablo 2 Resurrected features a total of 5 Acts, each containing a number of story quests. The first Act starts with the quest “Den of Evil” and ends with “Andariel”, while the second Act begins with “Radament’s Lair” and ends with “The Summoner”. The third Act features the quests “The Golden Bird” and “The Blade of the Old Religion”, among others, and ends with “The Travincal”. The fourth Act includes “The Hellforge” and “Terror’s End” quests before culminating in the final boss fight against Diablo himself. Finally, the fifth Act features the “Siege on Harrogath” and “Rescue on Mount Arreat” quests, leading up to the climactic battle against Baal.

Can the story quests be completed alone or do I need a group?

While Diablo 2 Resurrected is designed to offer a more social experience, with players able to team up with others to complete quests and defeat bosses, it is also entirely possible to complete all the story quests solo. The game’s difficulty scales with the number of players, so playing alone can be more challenging, but it is still a viable option for players who prefer to go it alone. However, some of the later quests may prove especially challenging for solo players, so it can be helpful to have a few allies to back you up.

Do the story quests in Diablo 2 Resurrected follow a linear path?

While Diablo 2 Resurrected’s story quests do follow a general linear path, there are some opportunities for players to take different routes or tackle quests in a different order. For example, in Act 2, players can choose to complete the “Tainted Sun” quest or the “Arcane Sanctuary” quest first, and in Act 3, players can choose to complete “The Golden Bird” or “The Blade of the Old Religion” quest first. Additionally, some quests are optional and can be skipped entirely if players so choose. However, in order to progress through the Acts and ultimately defeat the game’s final bosses, players will need to complete all of the required story quests in each Act.
