The Cure for Madness – p. 2

New main goal: Eliminate Cicero

Head north and enter the first room where you’ll find some jester items on a table. However, the only valuable item is the jester’s hat, which is part of the armor you received earlier from Astrid. The next location is where you’ll encounter the sanctuary guardians (screen above). They are tough and inflict heavy damage, so it’s recommended to use a ghostly helper or standard weapons to defeat them.

Proceed towards the western passage and reach the drawbridge (screen above). Attack the guardian in the distance and provoke him to come to you. He’ll be killed by one of the spears. You can avoid the spears by walking carefully between them or using the Shout Whirlwind Sprint.

Destroy the oil lamps attached to the ceiling near the bridge and quickly run down the stairs. Some of the new guardians will get injured from the fire. Defeat all the opponents and search for the skill book Fire and Darkness, which increases One Handed skill. Choose the northern exit from this room and then head east.

Eliminate another group of sanctuary guardians in the next room. Ignore all the locked doors and use the north-east passage (screen above). Follow the ice corridor and disarm at least two bear traps along your way.

In the largest part of the ice cave, you’ll fight a monster named Udefrykte, resembling a snow troll (screen above). Keep him at a distance if possible. Use the Shout Unrelenting Force to knock him down and make him an easy target for your attacks.

Defeat the monster and explore the cave. Use the narrow south-west passage (screen above), open the gate, and pull the chain to unlock access to the tombs.

Eliminate the many large groups of sanctuary guardians in this area. You can fight them in melee combat or use a trick and return to the chain you’ve used previously. Creatures won’t be able to get through obstacles, making them easy targets for distance attacks.

Explore the corridor leading to the south and find a masterfully protected chest. Open it to take several valuable items, including the dwarven bow of flames. Continue through the tombs until you reach a new interactive chain (screen above). Unlock the passage and save the game, because you’re approaching Cicero’s hideout.

Proceed to the end of the hallway and select the door on the right, disregarding the temporary restriction on the use of weapons and spells. Speak with the severely injured Cicero to initiate a conversation (as seen in the image above). The clown will request that you spare his life and deceive Astrid about his demise. The decision regarding his fate ultimately lies with you.

New main objective: Either kill Cicero or leave the Sanctuary

If you choose to kill Cicero, you must provoke him into combat (as shown in the image above). As the battle will take place in a relatively confined area, you must be cautious, particularly if your character specializes in long-range attacks. Once you have emerged victorious, examine Cicero’s body to obtain valuable and useful items such as the jester’s armor and an ebony dagger.

If you decide to spare Cicero’s life, you must follow his guidance and leave him be before exiting the Sanctuary. Turn around and approach the door in front of you (as seen in the image above). Interact with the door bar and unlock the door to return to a previously explored chamber.

You may also utilize shortcuts and pull the chain (as shown in the image above). The bars in the distance will lower. Regardless of your decision regarding Cicero’s fate, you must exit the assassins’ hideout.

New main objective: Report back to Astrid

Open the world map and confirm your intention to travel to the Dark Brotherhood’s Sanctuary. Once there, converse with Astrid. If you have killed Cicero, you must inform her of the truth. Alternatively, you can lie (as depicted in the image above) without the need for the Speech skill. Astrid will then permit you to take permanent care of her horse and direct you to Festus Krex to discuss the specifics of your next contract.

The Dark Brotherhood quest unlocked: Recipe For Disaster

1. What are some common symptoms of madness?

Madness, also known as insanity, can manifest in a variety of ways. Some common symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, extreme mood swings, disordered thinking, and erratic behavior. Delusions are false beliefs that are firmly held despite evidence to the contrary. Hallucinations involve seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not actually present. Extreme mood swings can cause a person to experience intense emotions that are out of proportion to their circumstances. Disordered thinking can make it difficult for a person to organize their thoughts or make logical connections. Erratic behavior can involve doing things that are dangerous or inappropriate without awareness of the consequences. It is important to seek professional help if you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms.

2. What are some treatments for madness?

The treatment for madness depends on the underlying cause and severity of the symptoms. Medications such as antipsychotics, antidepressants, and mood stabilizers may be prescribed to manage symptoms. Psychotherapy can also be helpful in addressing the psychological and emotional aspects of madness. In some cases, hospitalization may be necessary to provide a safe environment and ensure access to intensive treatment. Support from family and friends can also play an important role in recovery. It is important to work with a qualified mental health professional to determine the best course of treatment for each individual.

3. Can madness be cured?

Madness is a complex and multifaceted condition, and there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Some people may experience complete remission of symptoms with the right treatment and support, while others may continue to struggle with ongoing symptoms. It is important to understand that recovery from madness is a process that may involve setbacks and challenges along the way. However, with the right resources and a commitment to treatment, many people are able to achieve a better quality of life and manage their symptoms effectively. It is important to work with a qualified mental health professional and to have realistic expectations about the course of treatment and the potential for improvement.
