How to Retrieve the Knife, Bow, and Axe in Shadow of the Tomb Raider?

After completing the first stage in Cozumel and the cut-scene with the airplane crashing in the Peruvian Jungle, Lara loses all her equipment. Here is a guide on how to retrieve the three most important items, namely the knife, the bow, and the climbing axe.

Retrieving the knife

After completing the first stage of the jungle and reaching the main hub of that location, which is the first camp where the lake with the first part of the airplane wreckage is located, Lara can retrieve the knife. To do this, she must approach the yellow propeller and examine it. Lara needs to dive and reach the plane fragment from the above picture to obtain the knife. She must use it immediately to kill an aggressive eel.

Retrieving the bow

Upon returning to the Surface, Lara must use the knife to try and cut the rope shown above. But she will find the knife not sharp enough. Lara must find three Salvage crates to acquire enough materials to create a Makeshift Knife. She can try to reach the crates indicated on the map or find them herself. After acquiring enough resources, Lara must go back to the jungle camp, access the inventory tab, and use the resources to create a Makeshift Knife. This will allow her to cut the rope.

Cutting the first rope won’t do the trick. There’s another one that needs to be cut. To reach it, Lara must climb the interactive tree and jump onto the rock ledge above. The location where she can cut the rope is shown above.

Now, Lara can reach the location where the cargo was dropped. The oblong crate shown above contains the Recurve Bow.

Retrieving the climbing axe

To reach the climbing axe, Lara must explore the western part of the first stage of the jungle, which was previously inaccessible before acquiring the bow. In the location shown above, Lara must use a rope arrow to unwind the rope, allowing her to get to the other side.
