Retrieving the knife

Start by walking through the jungle in a linear path. You need to reach the location where the flares were launched, then walk through a narrow ledge over the precipice, and drop from the tree. Walk over the fallen tree and slide down the hill to a new location.

You will come across a bigger part of the jungle and find a camp called Plane Wreckage. This is where you can use your first skill points to unlock the initial skills.

Your main task is to retrieve the knife and axe, which will allow you to continue exploring and reach another part of the plane wreckage where Jonah is located.

Head to the biggest part of the jungle near the camp, which is where the small lake with part of the plane is located. Approach the yellow propeller and inspect it. It will fall into the water, and you will need to dive to reach the wreckage at the bottom (as shown in the picture above). Lara will obtain the Knife, which you will need to use right away to kill an aggressive eel by repeatedly pressing the action button.

Upgrading the knife and retrieving the bow

Get back to the surface and use the knife to try and cut the rope shown above. You will realize that the knife is not sharp enough.

You need to find three Salvage crates. You can try to locate those that are indicated on the map or find some yourself. After collecting enough materials, return to the jungle camp and go to the inventory tab to spend the resources on creating a Makeshift Knife. This will allow you to cut the rope.

However, cutting the first rope won’t suffice. There is another rope that needs cutting, and to reach it, you have to climb the “interactive” tree and jump onto the rock ledge above. The place where you can cut the rope is shown above.

Now you can reach the place where the cargo was dropped. The Recurve Bow is in the oblong crate shown above.

Keep in mind that you can upgrade the bow right after returning to the camp, but it is not necessary to progress with the main quest at this time. However, upgrading it could make things easier.
