Reaching the City of the Serpent

The mission begins in the rebels’ hideout in Paititi, the Hidden City. To progress to the game’s finale, tell Etzli that you are ready to go to the City of the Serpent. Once you do so, you cannot return to the previously visited locations. However, you do not have to complete every side activity before you decide to progress to the finale – Lara can still explore the game’s world even after completing the game.

Equip Lara with good weapons (purchase them from merchants), select abilities that are useful in combat, take extra ammunition, and wear a good outfit.

You begin in water with Urunatu’s Amulet in your inventory. The journey to the final location in the City of the Serpent is linear – there are no treasures to be found there.

Dive to proceed. Remember to reach air pockets if Lara needs to take a breath. Be cautious of large falling objects that will appear later in the journey. Avoid them by swimming in a zigzag pattern and try not to stop – you do not want to run out of air. Watch the cut-scene during which Lara reaches the City of the Serpent. You will receive a new objective – head to the Crimson Fire.

Finding Dominguez

Although the path through the City of the Serpent is linear, you must be careful not to fall. Approach the ledge, use your grapple axe, and attach it to the climbable wall visible in the distance. Climb up and move forward. Avoid gaps and remember to grab the interactive ledges.

Use the grapple axe to grab another climbable wall, and then move right (refer to the picture) by jumping on the adjacent wall.

Slide down on the rope, swing, and then jump towards the ledge. Approach the pole with ropes. Aim with your bow at the ropes in the distance. Connect both coils with a rope and then slide down.

Lara meets Yaaxil, but this time the woman is not hostile towards you. Furthermore, Lara must now work with savages to eliminate Trinity mercenaries. You will also receive a unique headgear and unlock the Queen of the Damned trophy. After taking a few steps, you will unlock a photo of the Crimson Fire.

Jump on the new climbable wall. Reach its highest point. The picture above shows the spot where you must jump towards the grapple point (remember to press the right button to grapple it mid-air with your axe). Climb the upper ledge and then watch another cut-scene.

Start moving towards another grappling point (as seen in the picture above). Use your grapple axe and jump towards the wall. Ignore the Trinity mercenaries who are currently fighting the savages. Keep climbing by reaching new ledges.

Watch another cut-scene. Then, move to a new area where you will meet Dominguez.

Begin attacking the Trinity mercenaries. Use your rifle and aim for the head to kill enemies faster. Also, look for red containers and shoot them to cause an explosion.

In the next area, avoid the APC fire and hide behind “indestructible” covers. Look for exploding containers and shoot them. You also have to throw gas canisters at the vehicle. Secure the area, and the Queen of the Damned will attack the APC’s crew.

Climb the wall on the right side of the destroyed APC. Lara reaches a campsite in the City of the Serpent, where she can change equipment or unlock new abilities. However, fast travel is not an option.

Head towards the wooden balconies, which will lead Lara to another climbable wall. During your climb, make a few quick moves. The most important moment is in the picture above, where you should use your grapple axe to hook onto the grip before Lara falls down.

Keep climbing. The picture above shows an important part where you need to jump quickly towards the adjacent wall to avoid falling objects.

Continue moving upwards. Reach the end of the last wall and climb onto the ledge presented in the picture above. Lara may have trouble doing this, so move the analog stick up to avoid stopping gripping the wall.

Lara reaches the final location where she encounters Dominguez. Watch a cut-scene during which the man uses all previously collected artifacts. This is the beginning of the final battle in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Fight with the final boss (Dominguez)

You can spend time exploring the area. Lara can apply mud on herself, hide in bushes and near walls, climb trees, and collect spare ammo (the amount depends on your difficulty level).

There are three constructions that provide Dominguez energy. Destroy them all in any order using your axe.

Lara will be hunted by nearby cultists every time you destroy a construction. Defeat them or run away and then take them down from the shadows (i.e. takedowns or Eagle’s Talon ability).

Dominguez joins the fight once you destroy all three constructions, triggering a new cut-scene.

Be on the move and avoid his ranged (bow) and melee attacks. The boss can deal a lot of damage to Lara when he gets closer to her. Also, regular cultists will attack Lara. Focus on attacking Dominguez and deal enough damage to progress to the next stage.

To defeat Dominguez, deal enough damage to make him stand still, then run up to him and attack using the same button used for takedowns. Avoid the edges of the arena to prevent being knocked into the chasm. Keep attacking from a distance and waiting for opportunities to strike with melee attacks. Dominguez can teleport to get closer, so stay on the move and use dodges. Defeating Dominguez wins the game and earns the Quiet an Adventure trophy, as well as an additional trophy depending on the selected difficulty level. After completing the game, players can choose to return to the main menu to complete side activities or start a New Game Plus mode, which allows players to keep unlocked abilities and equipment while starting the game from the beginning and searching for secrets again.
