1. Unlocking the Bury the Hatchet mission.

Preparation for the mission

This is one of the later primary missions related to the Madrugada region and Carlos Montero’s character. First, complete other primary missions from this region, which we have described on the previous pages of the guide.

You have to prepare yourself for this mission as it involves a tough battle where you defend yourself from enemy vehicles and helicopters. We suggest equipping yourself with a rocket launcher, which will make it very easy for you to blow up enemy machines. In the large box, there is a unique La Guaracha launcher.

Reach the church in Vedera town

Meet Carlos at the rebels hideout on the Montero Farm. A cut-scene of determining the action plan will play. Vedera town is located northeast of the farm. It is a good idea to enter there with your weapon hidden to avoid alarming the surrounding enemies.

The church is located in the central part of Vedera, on the market square. When you approach it, you will receive updated guidelines.

Find the sniper rifle in the bell tower

Do not attempt to enter the church through the main door. Instead, go to the back of the building, where you will find the ladders shown in the picture. They will allow you to reach the church roof and then cross from there to the church tower.

An essential cut-scene will be played, and unfortunately, you won’t be able to influence the course of events. Also, you don’t have to fire any shots from the tower.

Carry Alejandro to safety

Approach the badly injured Alejandro lying on the ground and press the right analog knob to carry your ally.

During the escape scene in the city, it’s best to use a hand-held weapon such as a regular or submachine gun to kill enemies. You’ll have temporarily unlimited ammunition, but you’ll still need to reload. Avoid putting Alejandro down unless it’s absolutely necessary as his health will drop to 0% if you don’t save him in time. If you sustain a lot of damage while running, take cover behind walls and other obstacles to avoid being an easy target for enemies. Stick close to Camila and follow her through the city until you reach the point where Alejandro will be packed on the truck.

During the “Defend Philly’s truck” mission, you’ll need to rely entirely on your weapons as there’s no cannon mounted on the truck. Destroy enemy vehicles quickly and kill any enemies that appear. Avoid jumping out of the truck even if it stops as it can easily be destroyed, resulting in mission failure. A rocket launcher works best for destroying enemy vehicles, particularly jeeps and quads. In the later part of the chase, you’ll have to defend yourself from two helicopters. Use the rocket launcher to destroy them in just a few hits.

Complete the mission to increase your rank and advance to the next level. Although the game will become more challenging, completing main and side missions will still earn you large amounts of XP to advance your hero.
