This guide provides a walkthrough for the Path of the Living mission in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It includes details for exploring the dig site in Kuwaq Yaku and solving a complex puzzle in the temple. Successfully completing the puzzle will give you access to a large hall with a mural.
There are no new enemies in the dig site area, so feel free to search for secrets and interactive objects. Your goal is to reach the large hall shown in the picture above where you’ll encounter a bigger puzzle.
The hall has a locked gate with two interactive knobs on each side. The knobs rotate plates with various symbols, but only the first plate from the bottom will move.
The first part of the puzzle is straightforward – rotate each plate until it locks into the correct position. Refer to the picture above for the solution.
Two small bridges have appeared on each side of the main gate, leading to side areas. You can visit them in any order, but be careful on the right bridge as part of it will crumble. Each minor passage leads to an interactive gate where you’ll find new symbols to help solve the next part of the puzzle.
Return to the knobs and use the symbols from the side rooms to solve the second part of the puzzle. The solution is shown in the picture above.
The main gate can now be opened to reveal another locked gate behind it. As you try to open it, the floor will collapse, so return to the main room with the knobs.
Both knobs now have four stone plates each, allowing you to continue with the puzzle. Use clues from the side rooms to solve the third part of the puzzle, as shown in the picture above.
Once again, the gate will open to reveal another locked gate behind it, connected to a crumbling floor. Return to the main room and look at a photo in Lara’s journal. Rotate the Maya Date photo using the analog stick until you uncover a hidden hint regarding the correct symbol.
Use this hint to turn the knobs one last time and solve the fourth part of the puzzle, as shown in the picture above.
After opening the final main gate, the puzzle will be solved and Lara will enter a hall with a giant mural. Upon approaching it, a cut-scene will begin where Lara inspects the mural. This will result in acquiring a photo and unlocking the Fire of Life achievement.
