The First MAM Monolith
As you progress through the main plot in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you will come across a location called Path of the Living. In the middle of this location, you will find a MAM monolith waiting for you. You need to have level 1 of the MAM language skill to unlock it.
Lara will read out a hint: “Two guardians have fangs, two guardians have feet. One Guardian has both to better protect me”. You can use the map to read the hint text again by moving your cursor over the monolith icon.
In the room with the monolith, there are three large stone statues. Behind the statue opposite the monolith, to the right, there is a treasure. Enter the statue and dig it out to solve the mystery of the monolith.
Second MAM Monolith
You will find the second MAM monolith in the northern part of the Kuwaq Yaku location, located on a hill. You need to climb the trees to reach it.
The monolith contains the hint: “I lie silent where arrows once flew, guarding a door which will no longer open”.
To get to the treasure, you must first go to the other side of the rocks by a broken tree.
After jumping off the tree, you will find a small part of the terrain. There will be a treasure under your feet. The passageway in front of you will be blocked with boards and you cannot open it.
The Hidden City
The Third MAM Monolith
In the northern part of the city, on the island, you will find the third MAM monolith. You need to swim through the water reservoir to reach it. There are two waterfalls near this monolith, but swimming next to them will not affect your character.
The monolith contains the following hint – “The waters below protect me from the waters above”. If you want to read it again, use the map.
To find the treasure, you need to dive under the waterfall located on the left side of the monolith. Swim to the very bottom and you will be given an option to extract the treasure.
After collecting the treasure, Lara often gets stuck and cannot escape from the surface. Therefore, it is recommended to save the game before attempting the challenge.
The Fourth MAM Monolith
In The Hidden City, you can find a MAM Monolith near the entrance to The Mountain Temple. It is located on the left side, right next to the wall.
The monolith provides a clue – “The youngest of four his back on his brothers, unable to speak as I lie in his mouth”. If you need to read the hint again, you can turn on the map and hover the cursor over the monolith icon.
Around the monolith, there is an area where workers extract raw materials. There are four buildings in this area, each with a different size. The smallest building is located at the very bottom of the area on the left side, where a hidden treasure is waiting to be uncovered.
