Coast Cliffside (cliff, lighthouse) – Walkthrough for Gloomwood

The Coast Cliffside is the third level in the game Gloomwood. The walkthrough below outlines the primary path along the cliffside. You will discover how to reach the lighthouse, avoid sentries, pass the tavern and get the shotgun.

As the third stage in Gloomwood, the Coast Cliffside walkthrough below explains how to safely reach the lighthouse. We’ll detail how to deal with enemies, how to find unique loot (including a shotgun), how to unlock shortcuts and explore the building next to the lighthouse.

Exiting the mines

You’ll arrive at the Coast Cliffside after leaving the caverns explored during the Coast Caves stage, which was detailed on the previous page of our walkthrough.

Immediately after leaving the mines, you’ll come across a Phonograph – use it to save your progress. You’ll also find a Raw Gem (Small) and some ammo. You can either slide downhill or jump down to lower ledges.

Additional step – unlocking the shortcut to Croup’s Fishery

You’ll come across a path next to the cliff. The left path leads towards the lighthouse (your destination), but the right path is worth checking as well. It will lead you to the barricade you had to bypass while making your way through the mines.

There’s a boat with ammo nearby, as well as a small cave entrance to the right (pictured above).

The game will load the Croup’s Fishery area again. You’ll find yourself in a cave – you can open the gate from this side to unlock a shortcut. Reaching the well and climbing the rope will take you back to the hut where the second Phonograph is. Use this shortcut to return to previously visited areas if needed.

You’ll also find two kinds of silenced pistol ammo nearby.

Arriving at the Slaughtered Goat tavern

Return to the Coast Cliffside and go down the left path. Be cautious when you reach the house near the cliff pictured above, as:

1. There’s a guard on the upper floor. He’ll occasionally look out the windows and can easily spot you. Try not to be out in the open when he’s looking.
2. There are at least two guards around the building. One of them patrols the area and carries the Coast Desolated House Key which grants you access to the house’s upper floor.

Obtaining the key lets you explore the building if you wish to. Use the key to unlock the staircase and backstab the guard.

You can examine the document as well as climb up on the roof and jump in through the hole in the lower roof (pictured above). In the new part of the building, you’ll find revolver ammo and the basement entrance – there’s gold and shotgun ammo there.

The guide provides detailed instructions on how to progress through Gloomwood. The path encounters guards and a damaged bridge, but players must not attempt to jump across it. Instead, they can attack the guards and collect the medicine and gold from a chest. Players must take the bottom path, watch out for enemies and traps, and disarm them. The guide recommends players infiltrate a building to find a Phonograph and more ammo. The road leading to the tavern is full of turns and guards, but players can shoot a red barrel or wait for the enemies to move away to backstab them. The Slaughtered Goat tavern has two guards, and players must examine the table on the left to find a Shotgun and the Slaughtered Goat Cellar Key. Players must use the cellar key to locate the exit door and move on. Finally, players can reach the lighthouse by following the main path in the tavern’s cellar and lowering a rope to find gold and revolver ammo. However, the tavern’s main door and passage to the main floor are not yet accessible in the Early Access version.

The Phonograph area is located to the right of the main passage. To get there, follow the new path along the cliff and be wary of the nearby guard. When you reach the gate, you can distract the guard with bottles to keep moving. Later on, you can open the gate from the other side.

Along the main path, you’ll encounter a smaller locked gate where enemies from the nearby camp and ruins lurk. You can either jump down onto the right path to bypass the blockade or climb to the higher floor of the ruins. If you choose the latter, you’ll need to bypass or eliminate at least one enemy and find the Cliff Wall Padlock Key.

To reach the base of the lighthouse, you’ll need to jump over small gaps at full speed while holding down the SPACE key. Once you get there, examine the building next to the lighthouse to find another Phonograph, a note, and a recording to save your progress.

Exploring the building’s basement will lead you to a note with a combination to the safe from the cave next to Croup’s Fishery. You can also find medicine and a room with a mirror that triggers a monologue.

The main storyline in the September 2022 Early Access version ends here, but players can continue exploring the world and finding secrets. To reach the shopping district, look for a secret switch hidden behind books on a shelf in the basement. Using the switch will unlock a secret elevator that leads to the back of the huge gate. Be cautious of the guard on the upper level and find a switch to open the gate and unlock the shortcut.

Your next stop is the Market District, which can be reached through the city gates. You may encounter a few guards in the vicinity, but you have the option to bypass them, distract them with bottles, or eliminate them (you can take out at least one of them by shooting the red barrels).

Unfortunately, the city is not accessible in the Early Access version of September 2022. However, you can explore the area outside the city walls and discover some loot, such as an ammo box and a document that acknowledges the game’s supporters, attached to the main gate.
