Comments: This keep is occupied by enemy mages and monsters. It is best to explore it while completing the “Hitting the Books” quest from the College of Winterhold.
24. GJUKAR’S MONUMENT

Comments: It is best to visit the monument while completing the “Kyne’s Sacred Trials” side quest or “The Book of Love” quest from Bard’s College. You won’t encounter any enemies here.
25. SWINDLER’S DEN

Comments: This cave is occupied by enemy units and it’s best to explore it while completing the “In My Time of Need” side quest.
26. BROKEN FANG CAVE

Comments: This cave is occupied by monsters, mostly vampires.
27. SLEEPING TREE CAMP

Accessibility: Always
Comments: It is strongly recommended that you hold off with exploring this campsite, as you will encounter mammoths and giants here.
28. FORT GREYMOOR

Comments: This fortress is occupied by enemy units and it’s best to explore it while completing the “Side Contract: Kill Agnis” quest from the Dark Brotherhood.
29. WESTERN WATCHTOWER

Comments: It is best to visit the watchtower while completing the “Dragon Rising” main quest. A huge battle with a dragon takes place here at that time, however you won’t encounter any other enemies aside from the flying creature.
30. DRAGONSREACH

Comments: Dragonsreach is part of the city named Whiterun (sector 5, number 31) and it is a place you have to visit to complete several main and side quests. You don’t have to travel all the way through Whiterun to reach the jarl’s estate, because you can choose this location directly from the world map.

Comments: Wild animals occupy the cave, and it’s recommended to explore it while completing Kyne’s Sacred Trials side quest.
39. The Ritual Stone

Accessibility: always
Comments: A sorcerer and skeletons occupy this location. One of thirteen magical standing stones is present here, which can grant a powerful blessing when interacted with.
40. Whiterun Stormcloak Camp
Type of location: campsite
Accessibility: always
Comments: If you’ve joined the Imperial Legion, stay away from this camp as you’ll be attacked on sight. If the Stormcloaks are your allies, explore this location while completing their civil war quests.
41. Sunderstone Gorge

Comments: The gorge is occupied by enemy mages and monsters.
42. Bloated Man’s Grotto

Comments: Wild animals and spriggans occupy this location. It’s best to explore it while completing the Ill Met By Moonlight daedric quest.
43. North Brittleshin Pass

Comments: Enemy mages and skeletons occupy the pass. This location is linked to South Brittleshin Pass (sector 8, number 1).
44. Secunda’s Kiss

Comments: It’s recommended to hold off exploring this campsite as giants occupy it.
45. Bleak Falls Barrow

Accessibility: always
Comments: Bandits and monsters occupy the dungeon and surrounding area. It’s best to explore this location while completing the Bleak Falls Barrow main quest (given early in the game) or The Golden Claw side quest.
46. High Hrothgar

Accessibility: always
Notes: High Hrothgar serves as the home of the Greybeards in Skyrim. This location will be visited repeatedly throughout the game, with the initial visit occurring during completion of the main quest, “The Way of the Voice.” The monastery itself is free of enemies, but the path leading to it is often occupied by wild animals and trolls.
47. THROAT OF THE WORLD
Type: Mountain
Access: The mountain top cannot be reached until the player begins the main quest, “Throat of the World,” and unlocks the Clear Skies dragon shout.
Notes: While it is best to explore the mountain top during the “Throat of the World” quest, players will be required to return to this location later on in the game.
