How to unlock: Complete End of the Line with the Institute (M5,6).

Quest objectives:

Relay to the airport

To start the quest, speak with Doctor Madison Li and Doctor Rosalind Orman in the Institute. They will tell you about their plan to attack the Brotherhood of Steel HQ and give you Institute Beacons to use during the mission. After the conversation, take the main elevator at the Institute and return to the beacon that you used to get there the first time. You will be teleported to Boston Airport automatically. Note that you don’t need to select a destination on the world map.

Before starting the quest, make sure you have enough Stimpaks and ammunition for your best weapons. You can also wear power armor, but it’s not necessary.

Infiltrate the terminal

You can sneak past enemies or eliminate them all.

Use long-range weapons to take down Brotherhood of Steel airships.

It’s a good idea to kill Brotherhood of Steel soldiers from a distance. Use your best weapons against those wearing power armor, as they are more resistant. If you cause too much chaos, you’ll be attacked by Vertibirds. Use a rocket launcher or other powerful ranged weapon to take them down quickly. Pay attention to turrets and mines as well.

Deal with Brotherhood generators

Use any weapon to destroy the generators.

When you reach the main part of the airport, the game marks all three generators on the map. Two of them are easy to access, but heavily guarded. You don’t need to interact with the generators; just use any weapon to destroy them. The third generator is inside the flight control tower and can only be reached by using the small elevator shown in the screenshot. Defeat the Protectron and then destroy the generator.

Find Liberty Prime

Liberty Prime

Liberty Prime is a robot located deep inside the Brotherhood HQ, but its size makes it easy to locate. Once you approach the scaffolding that supports the robot, you will have to deal with the soldiers of the Brotherhood of Steel surrounding it.

Note – You can also secure the area around Liberty Prime while completing the objective concerning the generators.

Protect the Synth Hacking Liberty Prime

In this quest, your main objective is to protect the Synth shown in the above screenshot, who is hacking Liberty Prime. Fortunately, it is not as difficult as it may seem, because the synth does not have any health bar, whose depleting would mean failure. You need to focus on staying alive and preventing the situation in which you are surrounded by too many soldiers of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Using beacons will let you call for reinforcements

To fight, it is best to stay on top balconies around Liberty Prime, which will provide you with an excellent range of vision and allow you to attack enemies at a distance. You can also complete the optional objective of the quest and use all three beacons that you have received at the beginning of the quest. Beacons work like grenades, so after you equip them, hold down the key/button for throwing. It is important that you throw beacons into free, open spaces (e.g., onto the ground), which will deploy reinforcements from the Institute. Using all three beacons will complete the optional objective.

Eliminate quickly those of the enemies that make it to the top

You need to keep fighting until the hacking progression bar reaches 100%. Later into the fight, some of the enemies will probably make it onto top balconies, so switch to a short/medium-range weapon quickly. Throughout the fight, use the best weapons against enemies that wear power armor. Also, keep in mind that Elder Maxson will appear on the roof of the terminal – use a rocket launcher or any other good weapon to kill him quickly.

Escape from the Airport

After you are teleported, you will watch the explosion without being bothered.

After the hacking progression bar reaches 100%, you will receive the last objective and you need to escape. Climb down the stairs and go in any direction, as the most important thing is to get away from the robot. You will be automatically teleported into safety, and you can watch the explosion. The Brotherhood of Steel has been defeated.
