How to Unlock: Complete the Mankind-Redefined Institute quest and then meet with Doctor Justin Ayo in the Institute (M5,6).

Quest Objectives:

• Check the robotics terminals
• Search Binet’s quarter
• Check SRB terminals
• Check service terminal
• Accuse Liam Binet
• Deactivate the security in Justin Ayo’s terminal – This objective will unlock only if you agree with Liam’s proposition to tamper with the evidence and point it towards Justin Ayo.
• Tell Justin Ayo what you found – This objective will unlock only if you refuse Liam’s proposition to tamper with the evidence and point it towards Justin Ayo.

Checking the Robotics Terminals

Keep checking the terminals until the quest updates.

Find Doctor Justin Ayo in the Institute. Depending on the time of day, he can be found in the Synth Retention division, in the main Institute room, or sleeping in his quarter. Speak with him and offer help in solving the problem with escaping synths who are probably receiving help from someone within the Institute. Once the meeting ends, go to the Robotics section in the Institute. Start checking all computer terminals available in this part of the Institute. Each time you must select the View Access Logs option from the menu. After one of these actions, the quest will update.

Searching Binet’s Quarter

Doctor Binet’s quarter

Return to the main room of the Institute and go to Doctor Alan Binet’s quarter, which will be indicated by the game. Once you reach the destination, speak with the scientist’s son, Liam Binet. Then go to the left computer terminal. Similarly to before, you must watch the event log (the last position in the list).

Important – If you choose the bottom dialogue option at the end of the conversation with Liam, which is about wanting to solve the matter peacefully, an option to use Charisma will appear. The parameter must be highly developed for the action to end successfully. A successful persuasion attempt will make Liam confess his guilt. In that case, you can immediately skip to the “accusing Liam Binet” section in our walkthrough.

Check other terminals

Another place you must visit is the Synth Retention section. Start checking the terminals in a similar way as before (the access logs). After one of these operations, the quest will update.

Checking the Service Terminal

You can either convince Eve that you will keep her secret to yourself or you can kill her

The service terminal is located in the small room under the stairs in the main part of the Institute. Once you get there, you will find Eve (Liam’s synthetic mother) working at the terminal. You can solve the confrontation in two ways. If you play as a character with high Charisma and you don’t want to kill Eve, you can convince her that you will keep her secret to yourself. Otherwise, you will be forced to kill Eve in a direct battle.

Choose between helping Liam or being loyal to Justin Ayo

Return to the quarter with Liam Binet. During a subsequent conversation with him, you have two main options – either inform Justin Ayo about Liam or agree to Liam’s proposal of framing Justin Ayo by loading the evidence onto his terminal. If you choose the latter option, you can use your high Charisma and request a reward. Additionally, if you have previously killed Eve, you can inform Liam about it, but it will not affect any of the endings for this quest.

Option 1 – Informing Justin about Liam Binet

Tell Justin what you uncovered

If you want to remain loyal to the quest giver, refuse Liam and return to Doctor Justin Ayo. Inform him that Liam helped synths escape. Justin will reward you with 1000 bottlecaps.

Option 2 – Framing Justin Ayo

Justin Ayo’s computer terminal

If you choose to frame Justin Ayo, you need to go to his quarter. Once there, simply interact with his computer terminal (you don’t need to hack it) and select the option to deactivate the security from the menu. Return to Liam and speak to him for the final time. He will give you Liam’s glasses (only if you requested an additional reward earlier).

Quest rewards: Experience points, bottlecaps, Liam’s glasses.

What should I do if I discover a leak?

If you discover a leak in your home, the first thing to do is to turn off the water supply to the affected area. This will prevent further damage and give you time to assess the situation.
