Substory #18 – The Reclusive Son


To unlock this mission, players need to go to East Umekojicho in Rakugai’s central part. Angry Son and Flustered Mother can be found arguing there. Talk to the woman and promise to speak to her son. Substory #19 – Palanquin Paladin


Advance to at least Chapter 6 to unlock this mission. Players will be approached by a Serious Old Man in the south-western part of Rakugai. He will ask players to help guard the Palanquin transport, which they have to agree to. It’s important to save the game earlier since the Substory is easy to fail. While playing the task, quickly eliminate the enemies attacking the Palanquin. Players have to defeat the last group of thugs at the transport’s destination.

Substory #20 – Can I Quote You on That?


Players need to be at least at Chapter 7 to unlock this mission. In the northern part of the district (East Umekojicho), players will be approached by a Kawaraban Vendor. Players have to deal with a group of loyalists, and Ryoma will agree to an interrogation that will take place after the Substory ends. The Kawaraban Vendor will be waiting next to the entrance to Shinsengumi Barracks in Mibu.

Substory #21 – Sonno Joui

The Substory of Kind Foreigner requires you to locate him twice. Firstly, you need to head towards Sannocho (near the north gate of Mukurogai), and secondly, you need to find him on the upper floor of the central building of the Mukurogai district (near Tachibanagumi HQ).

To unlock this mission, progress to Chapter 4 and explore the central part of East Umekojicho. A cat lying on the ground will catch your attention.
