The Cursed Tribe – p. 1

Starting the Quest

You need to be at least level 9 to complete this level and I would recommend waiting until you are higher level, as it involves fighting a Giant. You can find the Orc camp of Largashbur in the southeast part of Skyrim. Start in Riften and head west.

When you get close to the location, you will see Orcs fighting a Giant by the city walls. You can join the fight or wait for the Giant to be killed. If you choose to fight, be careful not to hit any Orcs with area effect spells or powers.

After the Giant is defeated, Atub will approach you. If you accidentally hurt any Orcs, you will have to pay a fine. Atub will ask for your help in lifting the tribe’s curse by performing a ritual for the Daedric Prince Malacath. To do so, you will need two rare ingredients: Troll Fat and Daedra Heart.

Getting the Ingredients

New objective: Bring Troll Fat and a Daedra Heart to Atub

The game does not give you exact locations for these ingredients, so you will need to search for them yourself. If you already have them in your inventory, you can skip this part.

Troll Fat can be obtained by killing a Troll, including Frost Trolls. You may have encountered one during The Way of the Voice main quest. If not, try searching in locations like Labyrinthian in the northern Skyrim mountains or the mountain area around Dawnstar and Winterhold.

To obtain a Daedra Heart, you will need to kill a Dremora. These creatures are not found during regular exploration, so it is recommended to check out the Daedric Quests The Black Star and Pieces of the Past, which include Dremora fights.

If you are patient, you may come across a merchant selling Troll Fat or find the ingredients during other quests.

One way to encounter a Dremora is by completing the Miscellaneous: Velehk Sain’s Treasure side quest at the College of Winterhold. This quest involves a gauntlet puzzle in Midden Dark, and once solved, a Dremora may appear, giving you the opportunity to fight it (as shown in the above screenshot).

If you don’t want to fight a Dremora, then you can search for a Daedra Heart that has already been removed from a monster’s chest. The easiest way to do this is by heading to the temple of Jorrvaskr in Whiterun and entering the northern room of the Jorrvaskr Living Quarters (as shown in the above screenshot). If you haven’t completed the Companion quests, you will need to steal the Heart. Otherwise, it is yours for the taking. Alternatively, you can try to find a merchant selling Daedra Hearts or search for them in the locations you explore.

Once you have obtained both ingredients, return to Largashbur and give them to Atub (as shown in the above screenshot).

Your new main objective is to observe Atub’s ritual. Follow her to the Largashbur longhouse, where she will invite Chief Yamarz to join her in the ritual. Wait outside by the altar for the ritual to end (as shown in the above screenshot). Eventually, Malacath will appear and promise to lift the curse in exchange for you going to a temple occupied by Giants and retrieving their chief’s weapon.
