Preliminary Information about Skyhold

Skyhold serves as the Inquisition’s main headquarters after leaving Haven.

Skyhold is the second primary headquarters for the Inquisition, and it remains so until the end of the game. The location is inaccessible at the game’s start and only becomes available as you progress through the storyline. There are no enemies to worry about while at Skyhold, so you can plan your next steps, converse with companions, trade items, craft weapons, and enhance the hold’s appearance without any interruptions.

How to Unlock: Automatically, after completing the “In Your Heart Shall Burn” main quest.

Recommended Experience Level: There are no enemies to fight at Skyhold.

Important Notes:

1) Skyhold is a much larger location than Haven, and exploring all of its corners will take some time. It is recommended that you spend some time at the hold before starting your exploration, as certain locations (such as the garden or your character’s quarters) are inaccessible during your first visit and certain NPCs cannot be spoken to.

2) The hold is comprised of two levels. The upper level contains the war room, throne room, and garden, among other areas. The lower level contains a tavern (with multiple floors to explore) and numerous companions. In addition, there is a separate area called the Undercroft, which can be accessed through the throne room door. The Undercroft contains NPCs that specialize in crafting.

3) Unlike Haven, you can customize the appearance of Skyhold and modify features such as windows. These modifications can be made at the Undercroft. You can also expand the fort to a limited extent and build an arena for your warriors to train in. Skyhold can be expanded by using logging stands and quarries found throughout the game world. 4) As previously mentioned, all Inquisition members relocate to Skyhold. This means that you should interact with your companions as frequently as you did in Haven. Speak with them after completing main quests or long journeys to unlock new quests, improve relationships, or select previously unavailable dialogue options. Additionally, upon returning to Skyhold, visit the war room to deliver new specimens for examination (handled by Helisma) and check for new judgments to pass in the throne room (as outlined in the game’s walkthrough).

5) While Skyhold does not contain unique treasures, it does offer the opportunity to collect new Codex entries. Some entries can only be obtained after sufficient story progression, such as after inviting new specialization trainers to Skyhold.

After completing the “Specializations for the Inquisitor” operation, trainers specializing in different areas will arrive at Skyhold. The type of specialization they offer depends on the class you chose for your character. It is advised to visit all three trainers in order to unlock related quests which have been described in the game walkthrough. You can make decisions about specializations at a later time, after completing the necessary quests.
