The Only Cure – p. 3

Take caution as you will soon face two Dwarven Spheres (as seen in the above screen). It’s best to attack them one at a time and avoid direct combat if possible. Alternatively, you can run north-east and use the lever to activate a trap to destroy one or both Spheres with proper timing.

Head north-east and then turn east to face more Afflicted. Find the stairs leading to the upper level and turn south-west (as seen in the above screen). Be prepared to fight Dwarven Spiders and proceed into the southern corridor.

Eventually, you will come across a large gate. Open it to enter the Bthardamz Workshop. Explore the eastern room first and then head south (as seen in the above screen). Watch out for the pressure plate that activates two traps, but remember its location as it will come in handy later.

Go up the ramp to the upper level and beware of the Dwarven Sphere Master that will jump out of one of the holes. You don’t necessarily have to fight it, as you can quickly return down and use the pressure plate to destroy it with the spinning blades (as seen in the above screen). Open the northern door, search for a chest, and then open the gate back to Bthardamz Dwelling.

Proceed forward and go down the ramp to the lower level. It’s recommended to explore the eastern room where you will find a chest with valuable items. Then, head west and defeat a group of Afflicted in a narrow corridor (as seen in the above screen). Use AoE powers to hit them all at once.

If you want to explore the area more thoroughly, backtrack and use the north-east ramp to the upper level. Eliminate a few Afflicted with magic skills (as seen in the above screen) and check the storage box on the wall. Return to the lower level and head south to reach the gate leading to the Bthardamz Arcanex, the last location of the Dwarven ruins.

Turn south and stand by the balustrade in a large cave. Dwarven Spiders and Spheres will come your way, so attack them with ranged weapons or spells before they get too close (as seen in the above screen). Eliminate all enemies to proceed.

Once you have finished the fight, move across the ramps and eventually you will come across one leading to the upper level (as shown in the above screen). Go up and head towards the stairs. Before you do anything else, it’s recommended that you explore the east for a chest and save your game, as you will have to fight a mini-boss.

Choose the southern corridor and you will encounter a Dwarven Centurion. This machine is best at direct combat, although it can also attack from a distance with hot steam. It’s advisable to take advantage of the fact that the Centurion has to go through a long corridor and start attacking it from a distance (as shown in the above screen). It would also be a good idea to place some traps in the area, such as runic. Keep retreating and don’t let the Centurion get too close.

If your character is not skilled in ranged attacks, it’s a good idea to use additional powers or Shouts to temporarily slow down or stop the Centurion. Once you have done this, you can move in for the attack (as shown in the above screen), but be careful not to let the Centurion hit you too much. It’s also wise to wait for the Centurion to reach the cave that you had previously secured, so that no other automaton will join the fight.

After defeating the Centurion, search its remains and use the passage through which the machine first appeared. Be prepared to encounter Dwarven Spiders (as shown in the above screen), but they will be much easier to defeat without the Centurion. Keep fighting until you have eliminated all the spiders and then use the northern stairs.

You will now mainly travel through linear corridors and you should be aware that at least three Spiders will attack you on your way. Soon you will reach the last room of the ruins (as shown in the above screen). Make sure to save your game, as you will have to fight the main enemy in this quest.

It’s a good idea to start the battle with Orchendor with a surprise attack. Unfortunately, skills like the Unrelenting Force Shout won’t work here, as the boss will defend against any attempts to knock him down. The boss will mainly use ice and lightning spells (as shown in the above screen), so it’s advisable to increase your resistance against such attacks before the battle.

The unique aspect of this fight is that Orchendor will regularly teleport around the area. This is not too much of a problem, as you can use that time to regenerate. However, if it bothers you, you can use the Slow Time Shout (as shown in the above screen) to ensure that you deal maximum damage in a given “round”. Keep fighting until the monk is defeated.

Coming back to the Shrine of Peryite

New main goal: Inform Peryite of Orchendor’s demise

Start by inspecting Orchendor’s body, as he had many powerful items. In addition, you need to take the Key to Bthardamz Elevator. Then, use the ramp that leads to the upper level and go north (as seen in the screen above). Unlock the gate using the key, check the next chest, and pull the lever to be transported to the surface.

Open the large gate and, once on the surface, use the world map to return to the Shrine of Peryite. Upon arrival, interact with the cauldron once again and speak with Peryite’s aspect for the final time (as shown in the screen above). The Daedric Prince will be pleased with your completion of the mission and reward you with the valuable Spellbreaker shield, which not only has exceptional parameters but also safeguards you from spells while blocking.
