New main objective: Find the stolen sword

New optional objective: Learn more about the theft in Frostmere Crypt

Open the world map and head towards the Frostmere Crypt in the northern part of Skyrim (shown in the above image). If you haven’t found it yet, start at the nearby Dawnstar.

Once you reach there, you will see Eisa Blackthorn fighting some Bandits (shown in the above image). You can either help Eisa to defeat them or wait until she does it herself. After the fight, you can choose to ask Eisa for details of the theft. She will tell you about the stolen sword and ask for your help to recover it. Alternatively, you can choose to act aggressively towards her which will lead to a fight. In this case, you have to kill Eisa and find Eisa’s Journal in her inventory to read it.

Regardless of how you acted towards Eisa, you must now head towards the entrance to the Frostmere Crypt. Explore the location and be prepared to fight the Bandits on your way. You will eventually reach a bigger room (shown in the above image) where you should listen to the conversation between two enemies. This will give you a new objective.

New main objective: Follow Kyr and Ra’jiir into the tunnels

Continue exploring the crypt and search for documents regarding the theft which are hidden in the small south-east room. Look for Kyr’s Logs (shown in the above image), but if you didn’t fight Eisa at the beginning of the quest, you will have to take her journal as well.

Jump to the lower room and head west to reach a lever which you need to pull. This will unlock a passage behind the bars, so return to the main room and head north (shown in the above image). The exploration will become very linear, but you must be prepared to fight more Bandits regularly, especially those who can use magic.

You will eventually reach a door leading to the Frostmere Depths. Speak with the dying Kyr (shown in the above image) who will tell you that he was betrayed by Ra’jirr. Move onwards and you will see the Khajiit who will get murdered by the Pale Lady. Save the game as the final battle will begin.

New Objective: Defeat the Pale Lady

There are two ways to take on the Pale Lady. The first is to engage her in direct combat. However, it’s recommended to deal with the Wisps first. After defeating them, you can focus on the Pale Lady (shown above). Be sure to keep an eye on your character’s health and avoid her magic attacks.

The second method is to trap the Pale Lady. The advantage of this option is that you don’t have to fight her. But the downside is that you won’t receive the quest reward. To trap her, approach Ra’jirr’s body, take the Pale Blade, and interact with the sword stand (shown above).

If you defeat the Pale Lady in direct combat, you can take the Pale Blade from Ra’jirr’s body (shown above). If you choose to trap her, the sword will already be on the stand. Interestingly, you can return later in the game to take the sword and fight the Pale Lady again. Regardless of your choice, don’t forget to search for a Word Wall with the Word of Power – Flesh, Ice Form (located in the eastern part of the cave).
