Meet the captain

Upon approaching the USS Constitution, a robot will fly up to you and initiate a conversation. During the exchange, he directs you to meet the captain. Head to the destroyed building, climb upstairs, and locate the hatch into the ship. Once inside, avoid attacking the robots, as they are not hostile. Climb to the upper levels, remembering not to steal anything. On the third floor, you will encounter the first mate, who initially stops you. Luckily, he eventually lets you proceed. Ascend to the ship’s upper deck, where you will meet the captain, a massive robot who will ask for your assistance. If your Charisma is high enough, you can demand higher pay.

Repel scavenger attack

After completing your conversation with the captain, a large group of scavengers will launch an attack. Your objective is to fight them off. You can either eliminate them one by one or repair the cannons using a series of minigames.

Talk to the Bosun

One of the objectives that appears after the attack begins is to speak with the Bosun, whom you will find on the top deck near the stairs. Talk to him, and he will give you several more tasks to complete.

Repair or replace power cables

If you have at least 3 Intelligence points, collecting the cables is unnecessary.

The Bosun’s first task is to repair the power cables, which you will find in a box right behind the robot. Simply collect them.

To restore the ship’s systems, you must find three boxes with cables and repair the damaged bundles. If you completed the previous objective and collected the cables, you can select the appropriate option from the menu. To repair the cables yourself, you must have at least 3 Intelligence. Finding the boxes should not be too difficult, as they are all in one location and marked with green dots.

To complete the tasks assigned by the Bosun on the USS Constitution, you must first repair all three cable boxes and then report to the Bosun on the top level of the ship. After speaking with the Bosun, you need to restore power in the ship by fixing a power relay coil. If your Intelligence level is 5 or higher, you can fix the box yourself, but if it is below 5, you need to buy a replacement from Deb in Bunker Hill. Once power is restored, talk to the Bosun again.

If you want, you can also fire the ship’s cannons by activating a switch on the main deck. After finishing all the tasks assigned by the Bosun, head to the main deck and activate the switch to weaken scavenger forces attacking the ship.

To recover stolen parts from scavengers, leave the ship and head to the ruins to the East. Search defeated bandits for clues and then locate Mandy Stiles. During the conversation, you must choose whether to side with robots or scavengers. You receive one of the stolen parts from Mandy and find the other in a cupboard at her home. Return to the ship and fix the small box on the deck next to the antenna. Talk to the navigator and receive 250 caps before being asked to repair the radar transmitter.

To repair the transmitter, you can either use your high Intelligence level or find a replacement at the Poseidon Energy Turbine #18-F building to the north. Once you have the part, return to the ship and replace the damaged transmitter. Talk to the navigator again to receive another 250 caps.

To proceed with the mission, you must speak to the captain and express your loyalty to either the robots or the scavengers. Ironsides will request one more repair from you. Your task is to install the Turbopump bearings. Alternatively, you can sabotage the Turbopump with Mandy, which is optional. The General Atomics Factory is where you need to go to get the part. The building is guarded by Mr. Handy robots, but they should not pose a significant threat. Colonel Handy is the only one you should be cautious of since he has a powerful machine gun. The part you need is in a crate on the upper floor. After obtaining the part, you can decide which side to support. If you choose to side with the scavengers, return the part to Mandy, and she will modify it. If you side with the robots, go to USS Constitution, and place the part in the box on the third level. After repairing the turbopump, Ironsides will ask for your assistance in fighting off the scavengers who attack. After defeating them, Ironsides will reward you with a powerful weapon resembling a board turret. To start the ship’s engines, you need to supply it with enough energy. You can activate the switch on the building’s top level in front of the ship, causing it to take off. If you side with the scavengers, you must fit the Turbopump into the installation on the left and speak to Ironsides, who will reward you with 500 caps. Return to Mandy and go to the rooftop of the small building to the left. After using the small box there, the ship’s engines will explode.

Once the ship is destroyed, the next step is to take down all the robots, including Ironsides. The best approach is to use a sniper rifle from a safe distance. Fortunately, you will have the help of several scavengers, making the task less challenging.

After defeating Ironsides, have a chat with Mandy. Unfortunately, it turns out that the scavengers have betrayed you. Instead of sharing their loot, they are planning to kill you. You must eliminate them all. Once the job is done, the quest will be accomplished. You can spend a considerable amount of time gathering loot from the scavengers, robots, and the ship itself.

The reward for completing the quest includes experience and caps.
