Bound Until Death

New main goal: Eliminate Vittoria Vici

Exit the Dark Brotherhood’s hideout and check the world map. The wedding is held at the Temple of the Divines, but since you will arrive after it ends, travel to Solitude instead (as shown in the screenshot). Save your game upon arrival, so you can plan your next moves and try different methods to complete the quest. The time of day is not a concern, as the party will still be ongoing even if you arrive at night.

Map markers: 1 – Young couple (rest area and balcony above it); 2 – Stairs leading to the castle walls; 3 – Interactive gargoyle; 4 – Balcony with Gabriella’s gifts; 5 – Suggested spot for using a bow.

Head to the northern part of the city, to Castle Dour’s courtyard. Turn right upon arrival and you will find yourself in a small area near the entrance to the Temple of the Divines. The wedding party is held here (as shown in the screenshot).

As previously mentioned, there are different ways to assassinate Vittoria Vici, but three methods are recommended. The first and most obvious is to stab the bride. Approach her from behind after she and her husband walk onto the upper balcony and she starts delivering a speech (as shown in the screenshot). You must escape quickly after the assassination, as nearby guards will chase you (details on how to escape are discussed later in the quest).

The second method involves climbing the castle walls to get above the party area. Walk west from Vittoria Vici’s location to find training guards. Look for stairs leading upwards once you reach them (as shown in the screenshot).

Climb the castle walls and go around the tower from the left (where the entrance to the Thalmor headquarters is located). Turn slightly right and stop when you are directly above the young couple. There is an unstable gargoyle there (as shown in the screenshot). Wait until Vittoria and her husband walk onto the balcony below you to begin their speech before pushing the gargoyle. Don’t worry if you fail at first, as she will return to the balcony from time to time.

The third method is the best, in our opinion. It involves using a bow to eliminate the bride. Start at the wedding party location and look for a small northern door (as shown in the screenshot).

Go through the door to reach a new balcony where you can see the young couple. Don’t attack anyone yet but look around for items left by Gabriella (as shown in the screenshot). These include the Firiniel’s End bow, a few elven arrows, and a potion of true shot.

Go back downstairs and head to the stairs mentioned in the second method’s description. These stairs are located on the castle courtyard west of the wedding party and lead to the castle walls (as shown in the screenshot).

Begin by heading north-east until you reach the wall of the Temple of the Divines. Once there, turn around and position yourself to match the image shown on the screen above. It’s important to stay hidden and crouch whenever possible.

When Vittoria and her husband appear on the upper balcony to give their speech, use the newly obtained bow (or your own if it’s better) and drink the potion of true shot to increase damage inflicted. If possible, use zoom to get a clear shot. One arrow should be enough to kill Vittoria, but back up immediately after the shot to avoid detection.

If you chose to use a melee weapon to kill Vittoria, escaping from Solitude will be more difficult. However, you may encounter Veezara on your way out, who is a member of the Dark Brotherhood and can help distract guards. Don’t try to fight the guards as they will easily surround you, instead use the sprint option and regenerate stamina if needed.

If you chose a more subtle approach and killed Vittoria with a gargoyle or a bow, you’ll start on the castle walls. Head south-west and stay on the castle walls until you reach the tower. From there, you can easily escape through the exit gate from the town. Only guards close to the wedding party will be alarmed, so don’t worry if you see other guards near the exit.

Once you’ve left Solitude, go to a safe distance and open the world map to travel to the Dark Brotherhood’s Sanctuary. Look for Astrid and report back to her. Completing this quest will reward you with the power to summon a spectral assassin and bonus gold pieces if you killed Vittoria during her speech. Astrid will then send you to Gabriella to discuss your next contract.

The Dark Brotherhood’s next unlocked quest is Breaching Security.
