Elex: A Berserker Warrior [Duras] – Walkthrough

This quest is optional and involves berserker Duras. Once completed, you will have the option to permanently add Duras to your party. After your initial meeting at the start of the game, you will need to speak with Duras again once you reach Goliet. This quest involves investigating a mysterious murder.

How to unlock: The quest will unlock automatically during a conversation with Duras near the end of the Survive quest. If you have reached Goliet alone, you can find Duras in the village and unlock the quest by speaking with him.

Beginning (Tooth for a Tooth)

Duras is located near the stairs of the ruined hotel.

The quest will appear in your journal after speaking with Duras near the end of the Survive quest, once you have reached the entrance gate of Goliet. You will need to meet with Duras again inside the village, where he can be found near the stairs leading to the Hotel Ruins of Goliet. Here, he will explain a task he needs assistance with, and if you agree to help, he will provide information on the unexplained death of another berserker, Askor.

Interrogations (Circumstantial Evidence)

Thorgal can be found near the World Heart.

Duras has selected five potential suspects from among the berserkers, and you can visit them in any order you choose. Thorgal can be found northeast of Goliet, near the World Heart. On your way to his location, you will encounter powerful beasts, so use sprint and jet pack to evade them. Question him about everything you can and you will receive 200XP.

Visit the small cottage to find Rock.

Rock can be found north of Thorgal, in a small cottage near Domed City. Exhaust all conversation topics and receive 200XP.

Geron can be found south of Goliet.

Geron the hunter can be found south of Goliet. Begin from the village exit and follow the main paths, avoiding strong monsters along the way. Once you reach a small rundown building, talk to Geron (200XP).

Irdor can be found near the farm with a World Heart.

Irdor can be found south of Goliet, guarding the World Heart to the west of Geron’s location. Exhaust all conversation topics (200XP).

Barin is located west of Goliet.

Barin can be found west of Goliet, near the Great Lift (activate the teleporter while you’re there, as you’ll be returning here shortly). Question Barin and receive 200XP and information about a potential suspect in the murder.

Return to Duras

Return to Goliet and report to Duras what you have learned from your investigation. You will receive 500XP, and Duras will want to take a closer look at Barin. Invite Duras to come with you (500XP) and return to the Great Lift. Look around the cliff side to find the Hidden Casket, as seen in the screenshot above. Pick it up (200XP). You can open it in your inventory (although Duras may not be pleased), or hand it over to Duras as it was.

To start a new conversation with Duras, express your uncertainty about Barin’s guilt. Jax will then accuse Duras of the murder, leading to his confession that he killed Askor in self-defense, gaining you 1000XP. Later, you will have to decide whether to share the discovery with Ragnar or keep it to yourself.

After investigating Askor’s death, return to Hotel Ruins of Goliet and talk to Ragnar to receive 200XP and choose the quest’s ending.

If you tell the truth about Duras killing Askor, you’ll receive 1400XP, 1000 Elexit, and will have to defeat Duras in combat. Alternatively, you can lie to Ragnar and say someone from outside Goliet did it, receiving 1000 Elexit and ending the investigation.

You can also frame Barin for the murder, receiving 1000 Elexit and a task to kill him. Barin will offer you a bribe of 350 Elexit for sparing his life, but you can choose to attack him instead, resulting in 100XP and a finished quest. If you choose the second or third option, Duras will become your permanent companion.
